一名男子向朋友宣稱他要為上帝執行任務，殺害歐巴馬總統，並千里迢迢的開車到華府向白宮開槍，31日獲判25年徒刑。

23歲的歐特嘉─赫南德斯 (Oscar Ortega-Hernandez)，2011年11月從愛達荷家裡開車到2000多哩外的華府發動攻擊。

檢方表示他向白宮開了至少八槍。歐巴馬及其家人當時並不在白宮，在這個事件中也沒有任何人受傷。

歐特嘉─赫南德斯作案不到一周後，在賓州被捕。他去年9月承認觸犯從事恐怖活動和非法擁有武器罪名。除了入獄服刑，他也必須為他的攻擊行動對白宮造成的損害，賠償9萬4000元，出獄後還得接受五年監守行為。

聯邦檢察官說：「這名男子開車橫貫美國，用攻擊步槍攻擊白宮。他是出於對總統的仇恨，想要對聯邦政府發動革命。判處25年徒刑顯示任何人到美國首都計劃使用暴力，都應預期面對幾十年鐵窗生涯。」

司法部說，歐特嘉─赫南德斯2010年開始一再發表反政府論調，把歐巴馬斥為「惡魔」和「反基督」，並自稱「上帝的冷血戰士」。
