烏克蘭出現2004年「橙色革命」以來最大規模示威。

外國通訊社報導，周日上街的群眾數以十萬計，有示威者表示對總統亞努科維奇感到厭倦，國家需要新領袖，歐盟國家在這方面可以提供協助。

仍在獄中的前總理季莫申科透過女兒呼籲示威者不要退縮，不要同當局進行談判。

大約1萬名政府支持者，則在國會大樓旁邊一個公園集會，他們指反對派的目的是分裂社會。
