大陸首度公開銷毀象牙6.1噸

中國大陸官方在廣東省東莞公開銷毀了查獲沒收的6.1噸象牙，這也是大陸頭一次公開銷毀執法查沒的象牙。

這些象牙包括一根一根的象牙，以及許多象牙工藝品，透過粉碎機加以粉碎，變成一堆碎末。這些象牙碎末，除一部分用於警示展覽和公共博物展館的公眾教育外，剩餘部分將集中保存。

這一銷毀活動，邀請了包括多國主管部門或駐中使館代表，瀕危野生動植物國際貿易公約（CITES）、世界自然保護聯盟，世界自然基金會等組織代表參加，她們肯定大陸這次的銷毀活動，並認為這是中國向國際和內部發出的一個明確信號，就是中國不容忍象牙非法貿易。
