衝突40年 賽普勒斯今年可望達協議

土耳其賽普勒斯領袖表示，一項解決賽普勒斯40年來衝突的協議，可望在今年內達成。
北賽普勒斯總統艾格魯(Dervis Eroglu)21日和聯合國祕書長潘基文(Ban Ki-moon)會面。他在會後表示，在和希臘裔的賽普勒斯共和國總統阿納斯塔西亞迪斯(Nicos Anastasiades)的談判中，「我們將試圖消弭歧見，在最短的時間內，找出一個全面性的解決方案。」
艾格魯說，「我們將能達成和解，並在2014年同步舉行公投。」
在中斷近2年之後，阿納斯塔西亞迪斯和艾格魯在2月恢復談判，試圖重新啟動和平會談，以終結賽普勒斯的分裂狀態。
賽普勒斯1960年獨立後，由希臘裔和土耳其裔共組政府。1974年7月，賽普勒斯中央政府發生一場由希臘暗中支持的軍事政變，意圖促成賽普勒斯回歸希臘，引發土耳其軍隊在入侵，並佔領北部地區，賽普勒斯從此陷入分裂狀態。
土耳其控制的地區成立「北賽普勒斯土耳其共和國」，但是全世界只有土耳其承認；希臘裔統治的其他地區則是賽普勒斯共和國，受到國際承認。
