火箭球星「大鬍子」哈登因「重攻輕守」，不斷挨批。不過球評認為，以這類球星為建隊核心，並無不可。火箭球星「大鬍子」哈登因「重攻輕守」，不斷挨批。不過球評認為，以這類球星為建隊核心，並無不可。【台灣醒報記者陳正健綜合報導】火箭球星「大鬍子」哈登一向為了「重攻輕守」挨批。不過，《bleacher report》球評卻認為，以攻擊力數一數二的哈登為建隊核心，球員的角色定位明確、各司其職，火箭可尋找防守強悍的控衛或小前鋒搭配他。然而，若以攻守均衡的全能型球員為核心，例如溜馬一哥喬治，使球隊各球員分工係較為模糊。所以，以哈登為核心，何嘗不可？

其實，許多一線球星都非「攻守俱佳」的天才，例如鳳凰城太陽隊時期的奈許，也是攻優於守的例子，但他不僅帶起整個球隊，提升戰績，個人也獲得2座年度MVP獎座。

另外，「雷帝」杜蘭特的攻守能力無庸置疑，但他不必像喬丹那樣全能，因為雷霆隊上已有攻擊火力強大的衛斯布魯克，與防守悍將賽佛羅沙（已轉隊至老鷹）輔助，所以他能更專心在「進攻」上發揮。

縱觀NBA球星，堪稱有全能身手的有「小皇帝」詹姆斯、溜馬球星喬治、「船長」保羅等人，但多半球員都非攻守俱佳，包括「愛神」羅夫、神射手柯瑞等都是攻優於守。

《bleacher report》球評認為，以哈登這類球員為建構球隊的核心，反而使球隊的角色分工更為明確，火箭球團可讓哈登專司進攻，再尋找防守能力強的控衛或小前鋒彌補他的缺口，各司其職，所以不會角色混亂。

相反地，若以喬治這種攻守平均的球員為核心，由於他什麼都可以來一手，但攻守兩端又非頂級，球隊的角色定位反而容易出現問題，但詹姆斯是例外，因為他不僅是全能，各種能力都是上乘。
