《國際產業》谷歌攜手5亞企，打造跨太平洋電纜網路

【時報-記者柯婉琇綜合外電報導】全球搜尋引擎龍頭谷歌與5家亞洲電信與通訊公司達成協議，將共同投資約3億美元，開發並營運一個連結美國與日本的跨太平洋電纜網路。

這個被命名為FASTER的海底電纜網路，初期傳輸速度為每秒60TB，將把美國西部的洛杉磯、波特蘭、舊金山、奧勒岡、西雅圖，與日本兩座海岸城市千倉（Chikura）和志摩（Shima）的網路串連起來。

日本NEC公司將是FASTER電纜網路的系統供應商。NEC發布聲明指出，該電纜網路將立即投入興建工作，預計在2016年第二季投入營運。

該網路亦可連結鄰近的電纜系統，將傳輸範圍從日本拓展至其他亞洲國家。

參與該海底電纜網路投資案的其他5家公司，分別是中國移動、中國電信、馬來西亞Global Transit、日本KDDI與新加坡電信。
